With 20 years of experience developing neighborhoods and building homes for families throughout Northern California, Bob opened RJ Walter Homes with the intention of offering innovative, environmentally-conscious, energy efficient homes.
As an early proponent of energy efficiency in new home construction, Bob led his previous company to be the first production builder in the Sacramento region to market production homes with solar electric roofs. Through his continued commitment to energy efficiency, he again led his team to offer the first new homes in Sacramento under the Zero Energy Home Program by the United States Department of Energy. Now Bob has led RJ Walter Homes to Partner with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District to build one of the 'greenest" and one of the most energy efficient homes in the country, the "SMUD Home of the Future". This home will be the first LEED Platinum rated home built in the Sacramento region.
Bob’s professional experience includes serving as a division president and most recently, a regional senior vice-president of an international home building company. Bob was instrumental in guiding the company’s growth and commitment to customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction. He continued to grow with the corporation while serving in multiple executive roles for nearly twenty years.
Serving the new home building industry, Bob is a past president of the North State Building Industry Association and served five years as a member of its board of directors. He is currently co-chairperson of the “Green Home Expo” committee for the North State BIA and vice-chair of the public affairs committee for the California Building Industry Association. Bob is a member of the National Association of Home Builders and an associate member of the Urban Land Institute and the United States Green Building Council.
